What a week! I've heard from many small business owners who are feeling the pinch of the credit freeze and/or a decline in sales. For them, the pain is real and they are scared.
The politicians are now saying that if the $700B "bailout" passes then small businesses will get some relief. I think it's interesting that suddenly they are mentioning us in their speeches...to me it feels like we're just pawns in this game. I don't know if the "bailout" will help us or not, but I do know that I'm angry that once again powerful big businesses have messed things up for the rest of us.
We play by the rules and are slapped hard when we don't, while the big boys go virtually unregulated in the hopes that their good fortune will "trickle down" to the rest of us. Nice theory.
Every small business owner I have ever met is honest, passionate and deeply cares about doing the "right" thing. It's a shame that big business doesn't operate with small business values!
Once again, our hard work and entrepreneurial drive will rescue the American economy, so don't give up hope...we need you!
